That’s no coincidence — when your work resonates with good people, they tend to pass your name around. And that’s exactly how I landed my tenth (yes, tenth!) event with one particular friend group that just keeps the party going.
This time, I was brought in by Aliya — a familiar face and a familiar client connection. She hired me to photograph a truly special going away celebration for her co-worker, Janessa. The event was full of heart, laughter, and style — everything I love to capture as an event photographer in Queens and NYC.
A Thoughtful Theme with Personality
Hosted on the top floor of a stunning building overlooking Hudson Yards and the Vessel, the party was nothing short of a visual treat. Picture this: skyline views, golden hour light peeking in through floor-to-ceiling windows, and a thoughtfully curated dim sum-themed celebration with an Asian flair.
From the personalized napkins (each with an inspirational quote that guests couldn’t stop reading aloud) to the custom drink stirrers topped with Janessa’s smiling face — the details were quirky, endearing, and just plain fun. Guests wore pins with Janessa’s face on them, and I’m not exaggerating when I say they were the hit of the party.
Capturing Candid Moments & Big Emotions
As a Queens-based event photographer, one of my favorite things about shooting intimate gatherings like this is how every detail has meaning. The speeches were heartfelt, the candid laughs were genuine, and the love for Janessa? So easy to photograph.
We made time for group shots, snuck in some fun candids, and captured the type of moments that only happen when people feel seen, celebrated, and a little sentimental.
